Kid Friendly San Francisco is designed to give San Francisco’s parents and caregivers a quick, low-cost to no-cost, guide on how to spend some fun time with their kids on a moment’s notice, any day and every day. We search out simple, one-stop shops and areas for you and your family to explore. We seek to remind you of and introduce you to some little and big local spots. We welcome and appreciate your input.
About Us and Our Vision of a Kid Friendly San Francisco…
My husband Casey and I have established this site to make for a practical list of activities and places to go with your children that are kid friendly and to help you find something to do at a moment’s notice, on or off the beaten path. We hope to help you out when you simply need a new idea or easy place to run an errand with your child in our beautiful city by the bay.
Currently I am a stay at home mom, but I don’t know why they call it that, because I have to try to come up with so many things to do out of the house with my daughter each week. Staying at home too much is just not an option with an active child. And who would want to with so many fun things to do outdoors and indoors in the most marvelous city on earth – San Francisco!
Casey, who is himself a San Francisco native, our daughter and I find some exciting and new way to spend our time around the corner each day. From rebuilt playgrounds and libraries, to beaches and museums … not only could a baby or child never get bored here, but a parent showing them the sites has the most exciting role of all as tour guide.
As both a former San Francisco public school teacher and now a parent, I decided that I’d love to see a website that contained kid-friendly locations and ideas for parents and caregivers. I searched my memory (places I used to go before having a child and places I took my students), books, and the internet for ideas and then set out with my daughter to discover the town on regular weekdays. I soon realized that we live in one kid friendly city! I decided that I wanted to simplify these findings and display them in one straightforward website that included basic ideas like where to take your child on any run-of-the-mill day (and not just special event days).
On weekends, in an effort to get through the ordinary day of shopping, playing and getting out with our baby, Casey and I explore the most random nooks and crannies of the City as well as the most well-known ones, to discover places to have some fun and get some errands done, and do some dining out as well. Our site lists some of our favorite places to go around town with a baby in her carrier or stroller and/or with a toddler or child. We also try to give you a few ideas under one post; we can’t say enough how we love one-stop shopping and playing! So please enjoy exploring our Kid Friendly San Francisco with us. And from a favorite Dr. Seuss book: “Oh the Places You’ll Go!”…
